Dar Poeta
pizza in the heart of Rome
tradition, quality and patience
The Pizzeria is located in the center of Rome in the heart of one of the best known neighborhoods of the Eternal City: Trastevere, precisely at Vicolo Del Bologna 45/46, very close to Piazza Trilussa and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere.
Our strength is Pizza, neither low Roman nor high Neapolitan but Dar Poeta!
Our pizza is unique thanks to a preparation that needs the right amount of time for the dough to rise, the type of flours used and the baking in a wood-fired oven.
Dar Poeta pizzeria, which is about to blow out 30 candles, is now a regular stop for Italian and foreign tourists but also for Romans who appreciate our pizza and service.
Many attribute its origin to themselves, but if we go to examine the ancient scriptures, we see that it was made wherever leavened bread was prepared. At the Last Supper Jesus broke bread, which at that time was in the shape of flatbread.
The ancient Romans prepared “canteens” by kneading spelt flour (ancient or Roman semi-hard type wheat) with only water without yeast, working it like modern pizzas and baking it on hot stones. With the conquest of Egypt, yeasts were imported which, added to the dough of the “canteens” gave a product similar to today’s pizza.
